Film Scanning and Digitizing

While it’s true, film is an ideal format for long-term storage,  far too many factors come into play that can cause serious damage, like shrinking or scratching by projecting the film with dated equipment. Digitizing your film is the safest, long-term solution to maintaining your film collection.

Scene Savers handles color and B&W film, silent and with sound, including optical and magnetic soundtracks. We offer professional scanning of 8mm, Super 8mm, 16mm and 35mm films, including separate sound systems such as Nagra with pilot tone audio and full coat mag sound in mono and stereo.

Our Lasergraphics ScanStation film systems provide gentle sprocket-less film handling for shrunken or warped film and outstanding HDR quality up to 6.5k resolution. These scanners work in conjunction with DaVinci Resolve software to allow restoration of color on even severely faded films.

Video Digitization

Even stored under the most ideal conditions, videotapes may only last a few decades. Less than ideal conditions can result in an accelerated degradation process. Our video professionals understand the challenges, are trained in what to look for and how to handle old videotapes.

We meticulously maintain our equipment to deal with the challenges of obsolescence and to professionally digitize older media to your preferred file format.

Cleaning the tapes to remove dust, dirt and loose oxide from the surface helps improve playback quality and improves the possibility to playback tapes that are starting to degrade. We evaluate all tapes on an individual basis to determine the best course of action when dealing with degraded tapes and will work closely with you every step of the way.

Audio Digitization

For over 100 years, people have been recording audio across a wide range of formats, many of which are either obsolete, or degraded beyond use.    Great care must be taken when restoring these formats to achieve the best quality possible from your unique recordings.

Our proprietary systems and processes help overcome these challenges, including unique cleaning methods to deal with palmitic acid contamination and mold remediation. Our engineers and audio technicians can digitize your collection to the highest quality digital formats.

We've worked with many archives around the world to help them preserve their audio materials.  Contact us today for help in identifying your formats and consulting to determine the best plan of action for preserving your valuable assets.

Slide & Still Image Digitizing

We specialize in larger collections that require attention to detail that many of the low-cost, speed friendly options do not offer.

We develop unique solutions to handle the challenges associated with still image scanning. Our non-destructive processes allow us to gently flatten warped or curled photographic negatives and we scan reels of photographs without cutting the film. Whether you have mounted 35mm slides or oversized transparencies, Scene Savers can digitize your collection.

We take the time to personally monitor all slide scanning, and inspect each digital image as it is created. Plus, the metadata about each and every scan will be captured and provided as part of the process.

Digitizing and archiving your photos is not a process you want to leave to just anyone. Let Scene Savers be your trusted resource.
